What's New

To all our leather/SM/Fetish/Kink friends:

LeatherFest Stands Behind Its Words!

LeatherFest X, and its parent organization Club X San Diego, have recently become the focus of several accusations which have alleged that Club X/LeatherFest is insensitive to minority issues or is somehow racist. Briefly put, these tales are wrong.

Club X/ LeatherFest has always been inclusive, is inclusive now, and will remain inclusive in the future. We as an organization and as individuals have always sought to reach out to as many peoples, communities, groups, organizations and other individuals as we could. This has not stopped in recent years and has in fact increased with LeatherFest X, which occurs this April 3rd, 4th, and 5th, expected to be the largest and best attended event yet. Obviously we must be doing quite a few things right for such an overwhelming majority of people to return year in and year out and for the event to continue to grow in popularity and size as it has.

Unfortunately, we can not be all things to all people all of the time. Try as we might. There are only so many hours in the weekend in which LeatherFest X will be held and that limits the number of workshops, panels, and discussions that can be held as well.

As usual there are many more excellent topics for workshops and panels than there is time and space to hold them. Each year we base the new line-up of workshops on the responses we have received from previous year's attendees. The recent claims of "insensitivity" stem from an initial decision to not hold another "Minorities & SM" panel. This would be the third year in a row that such a panel was to be held and the organizers of LeatherFest X had elected not to hold it again so as to give other panels or workshops a timeslot so that they could be presented for their first time. The lineup of workshops and panels is in a constant state of flux, that is its nature. It has since been revised to once again include this particular panel. This time however, it will be even more inclusive and diverse than in years past.

The LeatherFest X Committee, the Club X Board, and all the individuals who are volunteering their time, efforts, and hearts to make this event so great, all hope that this message clears the air on this issue. Despite the rumors, innuendoes, and twisted statements, Club X/LeatherFest will continue offering an excellent Leather/ SM/ Fetish educational and social event. An event that is open to all and is as diverse and inclusive as it ever has been.

We welcome all of you to attend LeatherFest X and see for yourselves just how rich and diverse our wonderful event really is. See you there in April!

Yours in Leather Pride, Celebrating a Decade of Pain & Pleasure, The LeatherFest Staff
